So here's my question for the day...
I read in my "what to expect when expecting" book about sleeping and it said that I shouldn't sleep on my back... well that is a huge problem for me!!!
I can not fall asleep on my sides, and I am not a good sleeper to begin with so this is causing some pretty big disturbances in my sleep cycle!
I tried putting a pillow behind my back to kind of prop me up but that doesn't work cuz I just end up pushing it over in my sleep. AND my arms fall asleep when I sleep on my side cuz I can't handle having them resting on my stomach so I have to put them under my head...
this is getting confusing....
On to the question...
AM I OK TO SLEEP ON MY BACK RIGHT NOW? AND WHEN SHOULD I START SLEEPING ON MY SIDE?
Hopefully someone has the answer...
I am going to buy one of those body pillows that wraps around your whole body, but those are pretty pricey and I don't know if I'm ready to buy one of those yet...
Thanks blogger friends for being my pregnancy-how-to book!

sarah! haha, i had the same problem! i finally talked to my mom about it and she said "you're pregnant, your feeling miserable, sleep however is comfortable!!" the only reason they say that is bc it's like a .111% that it can cut off blood supply to your baby. but that's once your belly starts to get bigger. and by that time, your sides will probably be more comfortable anyway. just remember that your uterus and body is alot stronger than you think, and your baby will be safe and sound! ahh i can't wait to see belly pictures!!!!
sarah! :) Dont overthink all the little things... I did pilates on my back until I was almost 3 months pregnant and it was not uncomfortable to lay on my back AT ALL! So I just fell asleep however was normal... believe me YOU will KNOW when you shouldn't be on your back! Once I got to a certain point I would wake up in the middle of the night and my right arm would be asleep so I would try and fall asleep on my side, and now, there is no WAY I could fall asleep on my back cause it is SUPER uncomfortable. Your body has a way of telling you :) Take everything your read and hear with a grain of salt- it will be a different experience for everyone and probably each baby. No worries, just enjoy it :)
yes at the point you are at right now in pregnancy sleeping on your back is totally fine. The point im at right now sleeping on my back is sooo uncomfortable cause I can't breath. But yes they just say the bigger you get that you shouldn't sleep on you back you should sleep on your left side, but most of the time I sleep on my right side, it's just wherever you are the most comfortable, trust me your body will let you know as time goes on. Don't stress to much about the little things and you will be just fine! Good luck
That's too funny! I had the same dilemma and concern. But, unless something goes completely terribly wrong in the next 24 hours, I am living evidence that sleeping on your back really is ok. For the last 9 months, that is the only way I can sleep. Granted, now I have about 30 pillows around me, so technically it's not flat on my back, but still.... I would stop stressing. Dr. Thompson even told me I would be ok, besides if it was that bad... why are we on our backs during delivery. :)
Yes I agree with everyone else you are fine. I always slept on my back, but just listen to your body it will tell you. I hate those books I stopped reading them because they tell you everything that could go wrong and then you turn into a crazy person thinking you have everything wrong with you. Get the book Pregnancy Week by Week it's less complicated and doesn't talk about as many scary things. But seriously just get advice from your friends and family. Let me know if I can do something for you. I am always home and would love to talk if you ever want to email or call me :)
i think you can sleep on your back as long as its comfortable for you. i still sleep on my back and dont stop till my belly is too big
so do what you feel is best for you
told you not to read that book too much!! don't worry about the back thing right now...if you are flat on your back like on a hard surface with no pillow...then i would worry! Don't get too nervous over these things you will go crazy!
THANK YOU ALL SOOO MUCH!!!! You really have no idea how relieving it is to hear everyone tell me that I'm doing fine!! I will put that book on the back shelf for now! haha
